Weekend with Sawyer

The girls were really looking forward to seeing their 6-month old cousin Sawyer. Erin, Mark and Sawyer were late flying in Friday night, so I didn't even get a chance to see them all. Saturday, they drove up to our house to spend the day since it was a nasty, rainy day, so not much to do outside. Lauren absolutely loved Sawyer and couldn't get enough of giving her hugs or squeezing her way too hard and rubbing her head. Lauren also calls her Baby Sawyer all the time, so she will probably still be calling her that in 10 years! Kaitlyn was a little shy initially, but quickly warmed up and was dancing away later. Alexa was asleep when they got here, so she was a little surprised to find some new people in her home when she woke up. She did take a few things right out of Sawyer's hands several times, but hopefully that is just the age. Alexa did start going around giving everyone kisses after a little bit, even Mark after a little longer time. Sawyer sat in Alexa's walker while we ate dinner, so when she was taken out, Alexa climbed right into it. We are lucky that she didn't try to do that when Sawyer was still in it.

That night Kaitlyn had a Girl Scout Father-Daughter Dance, so after dinner they got changed and headed off. Kaitlyn was pretty shy and afraid to dance since she didn't know all of the songs. She had lots of friends there, but that didn't really matter. Our old neighbor, Katie, and Bill had to hold on to her arms to keep her on the dance floor at one point. I am just going to have to start getting her to dance to everything now, so she will be ready for my sister, Katie's, wedding in May.

Sunday, we headed down to watch Mark and our friend, Rob, run the ING Marathon. Friends of Erin's old college roommate lived right on the course, so we hung out at their house. While we were walking to their house, Lauren decided to run while we were on an uneven sidewalk, so she wiped out and became Lauren the Red-nosed Reindeer. Not too pretty, but it will get better. Erin had a cowbell, and I made 2 bracelets with little bells on them, so the girls loved ringing the bells for all the runners. Shortly after Mark ran by the house, we headed to Centennial Olympic Park, where the finish line was located. It is amazing the drop in temperature and how much the wind picked up, so it was chilly, but probably good for the runners. We missed Rob finish, but we did get to see Mark finish, even though he totally missed us yelling for him.

After the race we headed down to have lunch with Erin, Mark, Sawyer, Erin's old roommate, Kelley, and her husband, Brian. Alexa did not like me holding Sawyer at all, but as the time passed, she was okay with it. Once again, Lauren kept almost choking Sawyer with her hugs. Kaitlyn just played and colored. Erin kept saying that she couldn't believe that Alexa is only 9 months older than Sawyer. For their sakes, I hope that Sawyer isn't as much of a handful as Alexa is, but only time will tell.

After lunch, we headed back up to Johns Creek. Our neighborhood was having an Easter Egg Hunt with an inflatable slide, pony rides, face paintings and balloons, so Bill dropped Kaitlyn, Lauren and I off at the clubhouse for that. The girls had a great time doing everything and seeing lots of friends. We didn't get home until almost 5, so it was a long day being outside for over 7 hours doing things non-stop. Needless to say, it was an early night to bed.

The only problem with the weekend was the pictures. Somehow not all of the pictures that we took Saturday were downloaded, so some got deleted, and we forgot to bring the camera on Sunday, so we didn't get any that day. Erin forgot hers on Saturday, and we forgot ours on Sunday. At least it was opposite days. We had a wonderful time with all of them and can't wait to see them again in May.
