Kaitlyn's 7th Birthday

Kaitlyn has so far had 3 birthday parties, and she keeps talking about a 4th! We had 1 with Mimi, Uncle Tad, and cousins, Charlotte and Henry. We had 1 in Buffalo with all of my family. We also had pizza and bread sticks (her favorites) and cupcakes when we got home on her birthday. Earlier that day, when we flew back to Atlanta, the flight attendants wished Kaitlyn Happy Birthday over the loudspeaker. Even with all this, she wants to have a sleepover with some friends. We had said only if she learns to ride her bike on 2 wheels, but she is too scared to do that.

As for presents, Kaitlyn is not lacking any. She got many wonderful things. One thing we bought her was an alarm clock, so she can start getting herself up for school. Unfortunately, I bought one of the old fashioned kinds with the ringing bells on top, not thinking that she hates loud noises. So the first 2 days of school, we would find her curled up under her covers with her fingers stuck in her ears. Needless to say, the alarm function has not been used since. Now I need to go buy just a regular alarm clock.

Her big present from us was 2 tickets to go see Grease at the Fox. I had been wanting to take Kaitlyn to a play for a while, but have just been waiting for her to get a little older and for the right play. I still remember my dad taking me to see Annie, and it was wonderful. The timing of this play wasn't the best since it was the 1st week of school and it didn't start until 8pm, but we went anyways. So that Friday, Kaitlyn and I got all dressed up and went out for dinner beforehand. We went to an Italian place right next to the Fox, and we sat right at the pizza bar. It was too funny since on the way there, Kaitlyn was telling me that she either wanted to be an artist, a teacher or a pizza maker when she grew up. She loved watching them make the pizzas. She also tried bread with olive oil and salt (with a little prodding) and absolutely loved it.

After dinner, it was onto the Fox. For those that have never been, it is an amazing theater that Kaitlyn determined looks just like Jasmine's castle in Aladdin. We got there early, so we heard some great old music on an organ. Then the play started, and it was great. A little disappointing for me, when compared to the movie, but still fun to watch. During intermission, Kaitlyn had to have popcorn and proceeded to eat almost the entire container. By the end of the play, around 10:30pm, Kaitlyn was exhausted, but seemed to thoroughly enjoy herself. Now she can't wait to go back to another play at the Fox! It was such an amazing time for myself just watching her elation as well!

It sounds like a wonderful birthday for a young lady turning 7. The Fox is a magical place - how special. Hope you are well.
