Yes it is hard to believe, but a year has passed, and Alexa turned 1 on Wednesday! My baby is growing up! It is sad to have a December birthday because her birthday was shared with getting our Christmas tree. We planned on getting it Sunday, but it rained all that day, so that didn't work. She did get 2 desserts with 2 Happy Birthday songs though since she had ice cream at Applebee's and a cupcake once we got home. Her eyes did sparkle when the candle and cupcake were placed in front of her. She also wasn't afraid to dive right in.
Wednesday night we just put the tree in the stand and then put out other decorations. The girls wanted to stand in front of their new stockings for their picture. Thank you Nana for making such beautiful stockings, just like what I had growing up. Now Santa just needs to be able to fill these up with enough stocking stuffers since they are much bigger than our old ones. As for the tree, it took us 3 days to finish it off. Thursday was the lights and Friday were all the ornaments. The story of everyone's lives, there just isn't enough time in the day for everything.

Today we had a small birthday party for Alexa. As for the best part about the 1st birthday party, she dove right into her cake and loved every second of it. She tried throwing it on the ground and did get some on the window behind her. Alexa looked so cute with her white beard that I thought about taking a picture of her with our Santa hat, but it can't be washed so it would have been ruined. Oh well. After a quick bath, it was on to the presents. Unfortunately, she didn't get to open anything since her big sisters decided to do everything for her. Hopefully on Christmas, they will be preoccupied with their own gifts to worry about hers. Alexa got some great gifts and seemed to love her party as well.

Kaitlyn and Lauren were invited to go see the play Beauty and the Beast by Mimi, so Bill went as well to help with Lauren. I received a call at 7:50 with the play starting at 8pm, and Bill asked me to reassure Lauren that everything was going to be okay and she was going to have fun. Well Lauren was so terrified that they never made it inside the theater, so Bill took her back to Mimi's house and Kaitlyn and Mimi stayed to watch. At 9:30pm Mimi called Bill to tell him that they were going to try to take a cab home. It was intermission, and Kaitlyn sat with her ears covered the entire time because it was too loud. They looked so adorable and ready to watch with their doll and stuffed animals, but looks can definitely be deceiving. It is sometimes such an ordeal to take kids places that you think they are going to love.
